To ask the Scottish Executive what plans it has to remove restrictions on the election of tenant members to the board of Glasgow Housing Association.
Answer
I have asked Angiolina Foster,Chief Executive of Communities Scotland to respond. Her response is as follows.
This is a matter for GlasgowHousing Association (GHA) as an independent housing association. GHA must operate in line with its constitution in fillingany membership places on its board, including tenant members. GHA’s constitutionstates that elections will be held for tenant board members and that such electionswill allow all tenants either directly or indirectly to be involved in the electionof tenant board members. It is for GHA’s board to determine such elections. CommunitiesScotland, as housing regulator, would expect the board to demonstrate that the electionprocess enables tenants, if they wish, to participate in the management of the organisation.
