Questions and answers

Parliamentary questions can be asked by any MSP to the Scottish Government or the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body. The questions provide a means for MSPs to get factual and statistical information.

  • Written questions must be answered within 10 working days (20 working days during recess)
  • Other questions such as Topical, Portfolio, General and First Minister's Question Times are taken in the Chamber

To ask the Scottish Government, further to the answer to question S4W-10860 by Keith Brown on 14 November 2012, for what reason redundancy payments were made by Argyll Ferries Ltd and not Cowal Ferries Ltd; for what reason redundancy payments amounted to £1,400,182; how much of this was incurred through charges for terminating contracts with agency staff, and whether it considers that Argyll Ferries Ltd met best accounting practice in its 2011-12 annual report by not showing redundancy payments and start-up costs as separate exceptional items.
