To ask the Scottish Government what percentage of stroke patients was admitted to a stroke unit (a) on and (b) within one day of presentation at hospital in each of the last two years, broken down by (i) NHS board and (ii) hospital.
Answer
There is currently a HEAT target in place to support improvements in stroke care.
The target is for 90% of all patients admitted with a diagnosis of stroke to be admitted to a stroke unit on the day of admission, or the day following presentation by March 2013.
The Scottish Stroke Care Audit 2012 National Report published on 10 July 2012 contains the information requested, broken down by NHS board and hospital, for 2010 and 2011. The report is available at the at:
http://www.strokeaudit.scot.nhs.uk/index.htm.
The same information, in table format, is also available within “Chart 5 (2010)” and “Chart 5 (2011)” at the following link:
http://www.strokeaudit.scot.nhs.uk/Downloads/2012_report/SSCA_2012_National_Report_tables_and_charts.xls).
Information for 2012 is due for publication on the Scottish Stroke Care Audit website in July 2013.

To ask the Scottish Government whether it has been given an estimate of the "real investment/project costs" required to address NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s maintenance backlog, as per page 13 of its Property Asset Management Strategy published in August 2011 and, if so, what that figure is.
Answer
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde has not provided Scottish Government with an estimate of the project cost to address back log maintenance identified in the Board’s Property and Asset Management Strategy.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is responsible for developing its capital investment programme which is subject to Scottish Government agreement through the local delivery plan approval process. The plan would include projects which address backlog maintenance, through a combination of replacement, rationalisation and disposal of properties as well as refurbishment.
It is expected that NHS boards will focus on high and significant risk backlog maintenance. This will be assessed through updated NHS board property and asset management strategies which NHS boards will be submitting to Scottish Government shortly.
