To ask the Scottish Executive, in light of the appointment of senior psychologists to the role of approved clinician under mental health legislation for England and Wales, whether it will consider extending the role of chartered psychologists, who under Part 8 of the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003 can be responsible for the treatment of mental disorder for patients on probation orders, to a wider Resident Medical Officer-type role in appropriate cases.
