The following table givesthe number of full-time university students domiciled in Aberdeenshire, Angusand Dundee City local authority areas who were in receipt of bursarysupport from the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) in academic year2006-07. The total number of Scottish domiciled full-time university studentsin receipt of bursaries is also shown.

To ask the Scottish Executive what the cost will be and what resources will be made available from 2008-09 to increase the percentage of all three to five-year-olds in NHS Grampian who are registered with a dentist from 75% in June 2007 to 80% by 2010-11, as promised by the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing on 12 December 2007 (Official Report c. 4291).

To ask the Scottish Executive how many people were employed in the life sciences sector in (a) Dundee and (b) Scotland in the most recent year for which figures are available.
Answer
Specific information on the numberof people employed in the life sciences sector is not centrally available.
However information on staffemployed in NHSScotland is published on the Scottish Health Statistics website underWorkforce Statistics at www.isdscotland.org/workforce. Section F gives details of therapeutic, health carescience, technical, pharmacy and ambulance staff. Life sciences staff are includedin figures for Healthcare Science but are not explicitly identifiable.
Tables F1 and F2 show the whole-timeequivalent (WTE) and head count of health care science staff by specialty and NHSboard and region. Specific information on the number of health care science staffemployed in Dundee is not centrally available. WTE adjusts headcount totake account of part time staff. Latest available data is at 30 September 2006.
