To ask the Scottish Executive how many housing associations have applied for charitable status since the introduction in the Parliament of the Housing (Scotland) Bill.
Answer
Since the Housing (Scotland) Bill was introduced on 18 December 2000, seven Registered Social Landlords (RSLs) have applied for charitable status from the Inland Revenue. All of these RSLs have applied to Scottish Homes for the appropriate rule change and consent has been given.
