Parliamentary questions can be asked by any MSP to the Scottish Government or the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body. The questions provide a means for MSPs to get factual and statistical information.

  • Written questions must be answered within 10 working days (20 working days during recess)
  • Other questions such as Topical, Portfolio, General and First Minister's Question Times are taken in the Chamber

To ask the Scottish Government how it ensures that all schools and school leaders are supported to understand the additional support for learning needs of children and young people from armed forces and veterans' families, in line with the recognition in the Supporting Children’s Learning: Statutory Guidance on the Education (Additional Support for Learning) Scotland Act 2004 (as amended) Code of Practice 2017 that the children of parents in the armed forces are a group that "may require additional support".

To ask the Scottish Government what steps it is taking to improve working conditions for social workers, in light of the report Setting the Bar for Social Work in Scotland finding that 51% of social workers who responded said that they might leave the profession due to a lack of work-life balance.
