Health, Social Care and Sport Committee

ADHD and ASD Pathways and Support

Meeting date: 7 October 2025

Clare Haughey

It is perhaps easier to do some of that work with adults. How are you involving children in the development of services?

I get that. Adults are involved in developing adult services and children’s services, but I am particularly keen to know how you involve children and young people in service development.

Criminal Justice Committee, Health Social Care and Sport Committee, and Social Justice and Social Security Committee (Joint Meeting)

Reducing Drug Deaths and Tackling Problem Drug Use

Meeting date: 2 October 2025

Clare Haughey

Good morning to the witnesses. You will be aware that there are calls and, indeed, campaigns for facilities similar to the Thistle to be opened in other parts of the country. I know that you are only nine months in, but I am interested in hearing what lessons you have learned in relation to opening such a facility and what you would do differently.

To ask the Scottish Government what engagement it has had with the United Kingdom Government regarding the closure of any jobcentres in Scotland. (S6O-05010)

Meeting of the Parliament [Draft]

General Question Time

Meeting date: 2 October 2025

The Department for Work and Pensions has announced that the Cambuslang jobcentre in my constituency is to close. It was saved in 2017 after a huge outpouring of opposition to the previous proposed closure. Hundreds of local residents have signed my petition against the closure, and Cambuslang community council is actively involved in the campaign. It is now 10 weeks since I requested an urgent meeting with the UK Government, and I have had no response. Will the Deputy First Minister join me in opposing the closure and condemn the UK Government’s lack of engagement with local representatives and the affected communities?

Meeting of the Parliament

First Minister’s Question Time

Meeting date: 25 September 2025

Clare Haughey

New figures from the Office of Rail and Road show that Scotland has the lowest rate of train cancellations in the United Kingdom. Can the First Minister advise what assessment the Scottish Government has made of those findings? How is the Scottish National Party Scottish Government investing in our publicly owned rail services to deliver the best services for rail passengers in Scotland?

To ask the Scottish Government how it supports youth employment in the Rutherglen constituency, including through employability services. (S6O-04984)

Meeting date: 25 September 2025

Routes to Work South, which is based in Cambuslang, in my constituency, is an award-winning employment champion that offers packages of tailored support and training, including to many young people, and it is celebrating 20 years of operation this year.

Does the minister share my concern that if the Department for Work and Pensions’ proposed closure of Cambuslang jobcentre goes ahead, a vital link between the services is at risk in a sector where partnership working is vital?

Health, Social Care and Sport Committee

Welfare and Sustainability in Scottish Youth Football

Meeting date: 23 September 2025

Clare Haughey

You mentioned the funding that you want to raise. How much do you currently invest in Scottish youth football?

I appreciate that a very young child will not be involved in the kind of formal training programme that a 15-year-old or 16-year-old would be engaged in. Do you think that there should be a lower age limit? Should there be a ceiling at which we should not engage children—if they are below the age of five, six or seven, say?
