Citizen Participation and Public Petitions Committee

Continued Petitions

Meeting date: 27 November 2024

David Torrance

The Scottish Government says that new national parks are being pursued to help tackle the climate and nature crises. Continued Petitions

Meeting date: 27 November 2024

David Torrance

Continued Petitions

Meeting date: 27 November 2024

David Torrance

I chaired a meeting of the Public Petitions Committee there.

This has been an on-going issue for the local community and all the measures that have been put in place there so far have failed to keep the road open. I would like to invite the Cabinet Secretary for Transport to give evidence on both these petitions, and on others that focus on road transport, at a future meeting.

In the evidence session that we had with witnesses from Canada, we heard of cases in which people’s family members or loved ones had opposed the process for assisted dying. Should family members and loved ones be involved in the decision-making process for assisted dying?
