Meeting date: 2 November 2021

Transvaginal Mesh Removal (Cost Reimbursement) (Scotland) Bill: Stage 1

Meeting date: 2 November 2021

David Torrance

Last week, we heard from witnesses that costs have varied, especially when women have sought treatment during the pandemic. One witness incurred higher costs because of other medical conditions. Should more costs be specified?

Health, Social Care and Sport Committee

Meeting date: 26 October 2021

David Torrance

How will reasonable costs for individuals be defined in the bill? I think that I heard earlier that there will be no cap on surgery costs, but will there be a cap on daily costs?

Health, Social Care and Sport Committee

Meeting date: 26 October 2021

Good morning. How long will the scheme last and will there be a time limit for reimbursement? If there is a time limit, how will it be decided?

Many of the women have had to take their husbands, partners or family members with them for support. Will the bill include reimbursement of those costs?

Citizen Participation and Public Petitions Committee

New Petitions

Meeting date: 6 October 2021

David Torrance

I think that we should write back to the Scottish Government to ask whether there are any recorded figures that back up the statement that it has made in its submission.

Citizen Participation and Public Petitions Committee

Continued Petitions

Meeting date: 6 October 2021

David Torrance

You talked about having services in each of the 32 different local authorities for those diagnosed as autistic. Do we have figures for the number diagnosed every year in Scotland?

Continued Petitions

Meeting date: 6 October 2021

David Torrance

Good morning. My questions are about hernia and abdominal mesh, and I should put on record that I am one of the lucky ones who has had success with that procedure.

On the issue of data, which has just been mentioned, do we have information on the number of procedures that are carried out and the number of complications that have been recorded in this area?

Citizen Participation and Public Petitions Committee

New Petitions

Meeting date: 6 October 2021

David Torrance

Given that the Scottish Government and Education Scotland consider the matter to be closed and given that curriculum for excellence is a matter for local authorities and individual schools, I suggest that we close the petition under rule 15.7 of standing orders. I do not think that the committee can take it any further.
