Meeting of the Parliament

Point of Order

Meeting date: 18 December 2024

Alison Johnstone

It is fair to say that some of the matters that Mr Sweeney raises are not for the chair. I repeat, as I have many times, that the content of a member’s contribution is ordinarily a matter for the member. Mr Sweeney can raise the matter directly with the member with whom he has a concern. I know that, at this point in the session, members will be aware of the Parliament’s corrections mechanism and of how that mechanism operates.

There is one question to be put as a result of today’s business. The question is, that motion S6M-15875, in the name of Jamie Hepburn, on the Scottish Elections (Representation and Reform) Bill, be agreed to.

As this is a motion to pass the bill, the question must be decided by division, so there will be a short suspension to allow members to access the digital voting system.

Meeting date: 17 December 2024

Alison Johnstone

Members will note that we are approaching the first time limit and that we have a further group still to debate. As a consequence, under rule 9.8.5A, I am minded to accept a motion without notice to propose that the time limit be extended by 30 minutes. I ask the Minister for Parliamentary Business to move such a motion.
