Do you generally meet all your targets, or is there slippage? If the latter, do those then become targets for the following year? I am asking that because we have been talking about budgetary constraints.

During stage 1 of the Victims, Witnesses, and Justice Reform (Scotland) Bill, one survivor told us that the Crown Office treated them like a witness in their own case. Another survivor told us that their case was just short of four years long, while others spoke of their difficulties in getting information about their cases.
What will the cabinet secretary do to reduce trial delays and improve the standard of communication, to ensure that victims are not discouraged from reporting sexual crimes?

Although I welcome the provision of free bus travel for under-22s, one unintended consequence is that a minority of young people have abused the scheme to commit antisocial behaviour outside their home towns. The Cabinet Secretary for Transport has since told us that she has asked officials to consider whether temporary digital blocking measures could be used. Will the minister tell us what conversations she has had with the cabinet secretary? Will she also provide an update on whether such measures could be used to withdraw free travel from the minority of young people who commit antisocial behaviour across our towns?

The Scottish National Party awarded funding to River Garden, a rehabilitation centre in Auchincruive, to help 56 people recover from drug addiction, but that funding has been paused. Those financial constraints mean that the centre can currently accommodate only six people and that the future of the facility is now at risk, with fears that it may close within weeks.
Scotland has the worst rate of drug deaths in Europe, but beds are lying empty because funding has been frozen. Will the First Minister look at that immediately and sort it out?

To ask the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body whether it will provide an update on the review commissioned by the security team, in light of the protest that took place on 21 February 2024. (S6O-03582)

On the night in question, following the blockage of one exit by protesters, the Parliament’s security team directed members and guests to an alternative exit. However, it appeared that the protesters quickly moved to that new location and continued their harassment and abuse. I spoke with the people who were in the Parliament building that night, including young apprentices, some of whom were in tears. They spoke of concerns about their safety and treatment. Has the corporate body identified any involvement from a member or their staff in providing inside information to protesters? If so, what consequences will be applied to address that behaviour?

I also welcome the news that some rail services will return to Ayr station from 17 June, with services south to Maybole, Girvan and Stranraer expected to be operational in July.
The fire at Ayr station hotel has been devastating and has severely impacted local businesses and the community. Given that no service was in place for more than nine months, what measures can the Scottish Government take to encourage passengers back on to the tracks to visit towns in the south-west, thereby boosting the local economy?

Will Pauline McNeill take an intervention?

On that point, the briefing from Victim Support Scotland says:
“there is an extremely short timescale and there is no mechanism to ensure that every victim is notified in advance and offered a support and safety plan.”
It adds:
“this is extremely disappointing as it was one of the key asks from the previous emergency release programme”.
Is Pauline McNeill concerned that lessons are not being learned and that we will be here again in a few months’ time?
