Continued Petitions

Meeting date: 8 September 2021

Tess White

I support what my colleague Mr Torrance said. We need more research on the disease.

Continued Petitions

Meeting date: 8 September 2021

Tess White

There is now hope that the progression of the bill can be the final chapter of this horrific trauma. However, there are still a number of outstanding questions.

I would also like to pay tribute to Jackson Carlaw’s work on mesh implants.

The fact that more than 4,000 people have essential tremor means that the issue needs to be looked at, as it is an important one for those people.

Meeting of the Parliament (Hybrid)

Programme for Government 2021-22

Meeting date: 8 September 2021

Tess White

I agree with the member about wellbeing and job creation, including green job creation, but will he comment on the closure and mothballing of the only offshore and onshore wind turbine manufacturer?

I confirm, Presiding Officer.

To ask the First Minister what action the Scottish Government is taking in response to the increase in ambulance waiting times in parts of Scotland. (S6F-00195)

Meeting of the Parliament (Hybrid)

Point of Order

Meeting date: 2 September 2021

Tess White

On a point of order, Presiding Officer. My comments during First Minister’s questions were over the line. I would like to withdraw them and to apologise to both the chamber and the First Minister.

Meeting of the Parliament (Hybrid)

First Minister’s Question Time

Meeting date: 2 September 2021

Tess White

The First Minister whizzed through that very quickly—I had to take note very quickly to make sure that I did not miss it.

In recent weeks, NHS Grampian has said that staff are under more pressure than at any other time throughout the pandemic. There have been reports of people across the north-east waiting for up to 20—two-zero—hours to be taken to hospital by ambulance. Ambulances are being stacked outside hospital entrances, because there simply is not the capacity to treat more patients.

A 28-page plan is just not good enough. What immediate action is the Scottish Government taking to address the crisis?

New Petitions

Meeting date: 1 September 2021

Tess White

I would like us to examine the matter further. There is a need for us to look at petitions, address them and perhaps close a few, but I would like to keep this one open and write to various stakeholders to seek their views, including the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission, the Scottish Social Services Council, the Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland and the Law Society of Scotland. We should look into the subject and dig a bit deeper—maintaining the confidentiality of the case, obviously—because there is something here that needs looking at.

I agree that we need to explore further and gain input from rural communities, but we must balance the need for onshore wind farms. The two aspects need to be looked at and addressed. We should definitely keep the petition open.
