The UK Sustainable Aviation Bill will produce levies from traditional aviation fuel that can be spent on SAF. Will Grangemouth be able to bid for that money for a HEFA project or will it be excluded under the proposals in the bill?

My question is for Ross Haggart. SEPA’s written evidence says that, although it welcomes including vicarious liability, it could also be useful to add a provision for vicarious liability
”where a contractor ... committed the offence.”
Can you expand on why that would enhance the bill?

Yes, thank you, convener. I want to ask about the SAF working group again. How many times did it meet, and when did it last meet?

If no new money is coming for those investigations, I guess that SEPA would have to cut back on other things that it is doing.

That is no problem.
Does anybody else want to come in on reporting? Are there no takers?

I will move on to defences. The committee has received a range of evidence about whether the defence of necessity is needed and how it might be applied in practice. What is your view on that?

Therefore, you do not so much see SAF as the future for your airline, but other technologies, because you are doing shorter journeys?

You said that curtailment energy could be used, but that is not constant. It is a very windy day today, so I am sure that there is plenty of curtailed energy, but over the past two weeks, basically, there has been no wind. How could the industry survive when it does not have an almost guaranteed—or steady—source of energy?
