Douglas Lumsden

Can you give us a breakdown for those two things?

Was that for the former head of—I cannot remember what he was called now. Was it for the turnaround director? Is that what those costs are for?

Why would we write that funding off?

There were issues about how the Scottish Government was handing the money to local authorities, so it would be good to know what that write-off was.

My last question is about the additional £4 million for the census. Do you have any more details on how that came about?

Okay. I would have thought that a chunk of the census funding must have come from the UK Government. Is it just that we have spent more than our share?

Do you agree that all those things are vital in trying to maintain the public sector pay bill at a level close to where it is now?

We look forward to seeing that.

Last time you were here, Deputy First Minister, you mentioned flexibilities and moving capital to resource spend. Is there any update on whether the UK Government has given you the flexibility to do that?

Do you have a plan B if that flexibility is not granted?

What should the committee expect to see in that regard? Will there be a blueprint for how we all work together? We talk about digitisation, and we must be more efficient in future. There will probably have to be a headcount reduction to maintain the public sector pay bill as it is or to have it increase only slightly. The committee would like to see where we are going and what impact that will have on our public services.
