Seventy-seven per cent of all respondents to the Government’s consultation disagreed with the proposal to extend candidacy rights. Malcolm, in your experience, are there any other jurisdictions where that type of extension of candidacy rights exists? If so, what has been their experience?

So, it is possible that someone could present themselves as a candidate and not identify themselves as someone who was in the United Kingdom on limited leave to remain, and then, during the term of office, they could effectively be asked to leave the country.

Everything seems to be heading to you, Malcolm—I feel as though there should be a big spotlight shining down on you.
