Thank you, Dr Plastow. I bring the session to a close. That was a fascinating and important discussion, with a lot for us to think about, and we will certainly write to you with any follow-up questions that members have. We look forward to the publication of your annual report this summer.

There is a lot of interest in this particular line of questioning. I will bring in Russell Findlay and then Pauline McNeill.

Meeting of the Parliament (Hybrid)

Portfolio Question Time

Meeting date: 15 June 2022

Audrey Nicoll

I thank the cabinet secretary for his response. I have been assisting a constituent whose physical health has been so compromised by Covid that they are now wheelchair bound and remain in hospital almost one year after they were admitted. As they are a council tenant, their local authority is working with NHS colleagues as they try to secure a more suitable tenancy and resolve the debt that the person has unintentionally accrued. However, that is taking time, and the longer it takes, the longer they remain in hospital—essentially bed blocking. How is the Scottish Government working with councils and health boards to ensure that people have timely access to the health and social care support that they need as they adjust to living with long Covid?

Meeting of the Parliament (Hybrid)

Portfolio Question Time

Meeting date: 15 June 2022

Audrey Nicoll

To ask the Scottish Government whether it will provide an update on the support being made available to people with long Covid. (S6O-01216)

Meeting of the Parliament (Hybrid)

Portfolio Question Time

Meeting date: 9 June 2022

Audrey Nicoll

In the past week, local media coverage has highlighted how north-east food and drink small businesses are struggling due to Brexit, the Ukraine conflict, VAT and soaring energy costs—all of which the cabinet secretary has highlighted. Some businesses have had to make difficult decisions, such as reducing their operating hours, increasing menu prices or even removing items entirely. Will the minister give assurances that the Scottish Government will do everything that it can to press the UK Government to do more on issues such as VAT and energy costs, given that most of the problems are the result of the UK Government’s own mess?

Meeting of the Parliament (Hybrid)

General Question Time

Meeting date: 9 June 2022

Audrey Nicoll

Given that Aberdeen is on the cusp of a just transition, this will be of great interest to families in my constituency. Will the Scottish Government clarify how it is working with schools and apprenticeship bodies to ensure that Scotland’s future workforce, such as apprentices who are learning a trade in plumbing and heating, learn the vital skills that are needed to work effectively with the emerging technologies in renewables?

Amendment 1024, in the name of Graham Simpson, is grouped with amendments 1025, 1026 and 1008. I remind members that, if amendment 1024 is agreed to, I cannot call amendments 1025, 1026 and 1008 due to pre-emption.
