Meeting of the Parliament (Hybrid)

General Question Time

Meeting date: 1 June 2022

Marie McNair

I can advise the minister that I am meeting Glasgow Airport Ltd. Constituents have contacted me to express concerns that plans to mitigate aircraft noise are insufficient, and I support them in expressing those concerns. Will the minister outline the importance that the Scottish Government places on the need for local communities to be at the heart of mitigation plans?

We will be taking evidence from representatives of the councils as we proceed. Is there anything else that you would like us to raise with them or the Scottish Government?

Good morning, panel, and thanks for your time this morning. I want to explore the implementation of the act and the size assumptions with a general question. Do any of the panel have views on the guidance and any other support that the Scottish Government gave to local authorities when part 9 came into force in April 2018? Are you aware of the guidance? What else should be done to ensure compliance with the act? I just put that out to everybody.

There were two parts to it. I did not ask the second part but it has been covered. I was asking about the panel’s views on the guidance and any other support that the Scottish Government gave to local authorities when part 9 came into force in April 2018, and whether you were aware of that guidance. What else should be done to ensure compliance with the act?

Good morning, minister. Will you provide further details on the Scottish Government’s position on expanding the list of property types for which additional information must be provided?

My question is directed to Mark Rodgers. Will you tell us more about Highland Council’s approach to net zero homes? What investment and progress has been made?

Good afternoon, minister. In the evidence that we took last week from a range of experts, there was strong support for the Scottish Government’s single building assessment. Can you provide an update on the single building assessment pilot, please?

Does anybody else want to share a view on that question?

I go back to a previous point about net zero homes. We have heard from City of Edinburgh Council about the Edinburgh home demonstrator partnership. I would like to know how other local authorities are approaching that. Pam Humphries, please tell us about the approach that will be taken by North Lanarkshire Council. What investments have been made and what progress is there?
