Net Zero, Energy and Transport Committee

Circular Economy (Scotland) Bill: Stage 1

Meeting date: 21 November 2023

Jackie Dunbar

I do not know whether Brydon Gray has anything to add. Sorry, gentlemen, I am finding it difficult doing the online thing today. It has been a while since we have done it.

Cups or vapes—or both?

Net Zero, Energy and Transport Committee

Circular Economy (Scotland) Bill: Stage 1

Meeting date: 21 November 2023

Jackie Dunbar

I think that the batteries are the biggest problem. My other half has used vapes since before they were even fashionable; it got him off smoking, so I do see the benefits of them. However, I think that single-use vapes are a totally different issue.

My next question was actually going to be about what you would ban. I think that I have already had Drew Murdoch’s answer to that, so, Stephen, would you like to come in?

Circular Economy (Scotland) Bill: Stage 1

Meeting date: 21 November 2023

No problem, convener.

My question is about the current level of fines for fly-tipping. I was going to ask whether they are high enough, but I probably know the answer to that already. Do they act as a deterrent, and do they cover the cost of removing the dumped waste?

Meeting of the Parliament

Portfolio Question Time

Meeting date: 16 November 2023

Jackie Dunbar

To ask the Scottish Government whether it will provide an update on the provision of electronic devices to all school pupils to support their studies. (S6O-02735)

Meeting of the Parliament

Personal Statement

Meeting date: 16 November 2023

Jackie Dunbar

Does the cabinet secretary agree with me that standards in public office are very important and that it is therefore right that he has referred himself to the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body?

Meeting of the Parliament

Portfolio Question Time

Meeting date: 16 November 2023

Jackie Dunbar

I am sure that the update on the roll-out will be of interest to my Aberdeen Donside constituents who contacted me regarding it. With more young folk regularly using electronic devices to access the internet as part of their learning, what steps can the Scottish Government take to ensure that our children and young folk are able to stay safe online?

Criminal Justice Committee

Policing and Mental Health

Meeting date: 15 November 2023

Jackie Dunbar

I have a quick question on the delivery of mental health services in policing. I am fully aware that Police Scotland is a national force, but I am also aware that some initiatives appear to be based locally, which I think is the best way forward. I am a former Grampian police board member, so that is probably the reasoning behind my thinking, but do you have any evidence to show that the practice of local divisions working with NHS services is being shared across Police Scotland? How would you expect such practice to be shared?

Policing and Mental Health

Meeting date: 15 November 2023

Jackie Dunbar

Just to be clear, I am keen on that, but I am also aware that one size does not fit all and that we need a national approach.

I think that Brian McInulty wants to come in, convener.

Meeting of the Parliament

Portfolio Question Time

Meeting date: 15 November 2023

Jackie Dunbar

Can the cabinet secretary outline some of the success that co-location with partners has had in delivering better outcomes for individuals, communities and Police Scotland itself?
