Meeting date: 18 June 2024

Jackie Dunbar

As long as it does not harm the land at the end of the day, of course.

Land Reform (Scotland) Bill: Stage 1

Meeting date: 18 June 2024

Jackie Dunbar

I have two quick questions, as I notice that the time is getting past us. What are your views on the provisions for compensation payments when improvements have been made and the tenancy comes to an end? Are they clear enough? If not, how can they be improved?

Land Reform (Scotland) Bill: Stage 1

Meeting date: 18 June 2024

Jackie Dunbar

Okay. If a tenant farmer is making improvements to the land before a tenancy ends, should that be considered with the rent?

Meeting of the Parliament

First Minister’s Question Time

Meeting date: 13 June 2024

Jackie Dunbar

To ask the First Minister what assessment the Scottish Government has made of any implications for its policy for economic development in Scotland of the findings of the Resolution Foundation’s recent report on the United Kingdom’s economic and trade performance. (S6F-03239)

Meeting of the Parliament

First Minister’s Question Time

Meeting date: 13 June 2024

Jackie Dunbar

The report indicates that the principal driver of economic growth in the UK since 2010 has been immigration. Will the First Minister outline how the conclusions of the Resolution Foundation report feed into the work of the Scottish Government’s “Building a New Scotland” series, in which the migration paper outlines Scotland’s unique migration needs and proposals designed to meet our demographic challenges?

Criminal Justice Committee

Subordinate Legislation

Meeting date: 12 June 2024

Jackie Dunbar

I have a quick question. I notice that the dates that you have set for release are on a Wednesday and Thursday. Is there any reason for choosing those days? What is the thinking on that? Is it purely to ensure that folk have access to the kinds of services that Pauline McNeill mentioned?

Meeting of the Parliament

Portfolio Question Time

Meeting date: 12 June 2024

Jackie Dunbar

The Scottish Retail Consortium is optimistic, citing Scottish Government policy, including the council tax freeze, as helping to “support demand”.

Given that the cost of living crisis continues to impact household budgets, will the minister detail how the Scottish Government will continue to support retail and shoppers, putting money back in folks’ pockets?

Land Reform (Scotland) Bill: Stage 1

Meeting date: 11 June 2024

Jackie Dunbar

I was going to ask about land agents engaging voluntarily.

Land Reform (Scotland) Bill: Stage 1

Meeting date: 11 June 2024

Jackie Dunbar

My question is a bit blunter that yours, convener.

Do the witnesses have a view on the belief that those with the broadest shoulders—for example those landholders who are privileged enough to own multimillion-pound estates—should bear the greatest burden in reaching our goals of net zero and nature restoration?

Land Reform (Scotland) Bill: Stage 1

Meeting date: 11 June 2024

Jackie Dunbar

That is very expensive.
