Inadmissible Petitions

The Convener:

It is a long time since we heard from Mr Frank Harvey, but he has petitioned us again, calling on the Scottish Parliament to withdraw from the European Union common fisheries policy immediately, to keep Scottish waters for Scottish fishermen and to take over the management of the Scottish fishing industry.

Membership of the EU common fisheries policy is a UK Government matter, so the Scottish Parliament does not have the authority to make the decision that the petitioner requests. Therefore, the recommendation is that we advise the petitioner that petition IP7 is inadmissible.

It is a perfectly sensible petition, but it is inadmissible.

Are we agreed that petition IP7 is inadmissible?

Members indicated agreement.
