Climate Change (Scotland) Bill: After Stage 1

Item 3 is consideration of the delegated powers provisions in a bill that we are familiar with—the Climate Change (Scotland) Bill. Do colleagues have any comments on the Government's response to our stage 1 report?

Malcolm Chisholm:

In general, I am content with what the Government has said about public bodies and waste. I am not sure about what it has said about the powers relating to forestry, which still seem to be quite wide. To some extent, the Government has accepted our point on the independence of the advisory body.

Are we content to note the response? We will consider the bill again once it has been amended at stage 2.

Members indicated agreement.
