Annual Report 2012-13

Item 2 concerns the committee’s annual report. A draft, which we have to agree, has been circulated. I open the matter up for comments or suggestions. Does anybody want to propose any changes?

I do not have any suggestions. The draft covers our work during the past year quite well.

Willie Coffey (Kilmarnock and Irvine Valley) (SNP)

Would it be better for us to wait to issue the report until we can say something definitive about the national health service waiting lists issue and can put something meaningful about that into the report? I note that we have not said anything about that matter apart from the fact that we considered it. Some of the comments in the draft annual report are helpful—there are little sentences that say what the committee said or recommended, but we cannot say that about NHS waiting lists because we have not said anything about the matter. When will we publish the annual report?

Jason Nairn (Clerk)

We will publish it on 10 June, so in theory we could say something about waiting lists.

We could put something meaningful into the report, then.

Are you suggesting that we hold over agreeing the annual report until we agree the NHS waiting lists report? At that point, we can redraft the annual report.

Yes.

I am happy to do that as long as it fits with the timescale.

Will we agree the rest of the draft annual report and just leave that addition?

We could do that. I ask members to agree the rest of the report and to revisit paragraph 8 once we have finalised our report on NHS waiting lists.

Members indicated agreement.

Thank you very much.
