Parliamentary Bureau Motions

The next item of business is consideration of two Parliamentary Bureau motions. I ask Bruce Crawford to move the motions.

17:00

The Cabinet Secretary for Parliamentary Business and Government Strategy (Bruce Crawford)

Presiding Officer, on motion S4M-00762, it might be helpful if I give a quick explanation of its intent. The Parliamentary Bureau considered a request from the convener of the Scotland Bill Committee to suspend standing orders, which would permit the committee to sit on the morning of Thursday 8 September alongside plenary business. We all know that that is not the usual situation as far as Parliament is concerned. However, there are unusual and particular circumstances here, so the bureau agreed to the request and I move a motion on behalf of the Parliamentary Bureau in that regard.

Motions moved,

That the Parliament agrees that Rule 12.3.3A of Standing Orders be suspended for the purpose of allowing the Scotland Bill Committee to meet from 10.00 am until 11.50 am on Thursday 8 September 2011 to take evidence from UK Ministers.

That the Parliament agrees that Rule 6A.3.3 of Standing Orders be suspended from 15 September to 31 October 2011 to allow the Conveners Group to meet.—[Bruce Crawford.]

Questions on the motions will be put at decision time.
