We move on to item 3. At a previous meeting, we agreed to ask the clerk to put together a paper on the implementation of the ozone regulation. The main issue is the impact on local authorities in relation to the disposal of fridges and other white goods. The clerk's paper provides some background and suggests questions that we might want to ask the Executive. Do we wish to invite officials or the minister to speak to the committee or would we be satisfied with a written reply? What are members' views?
We can write to the minister, asking what the Executive is proposing to do about the problem—looking for detailed answers to specific questions—and then decide, in the light of the Executive's response, whether to invite someone to give oral evidence.
That seems sensible to me. Does the committee agree with that suggestion?
