Late Objection

The Convener (Bill Aitken):

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. I welcome everyone to this meeting of the Edinburgh Tram (Line Two) Bill Committee and remind members to switch off their mobile phones and pagers.

The only item for consideration is a paper on a late objection to specified provisions of the Edinburgh Tram (Line Two) Bill. As the paper makes clear, the committee must initially decide whether it is satisfied that the objector has good reason for exceptionally lodging an objection to the bill after the end of the objection period. Only if the committee agrees that there is good reason for that will it decide to give preliminary consideration to the objection. In other words, we will decide whether the objector's interests would be clearly adversely affected by the bill.

I therefore have to ask members whether they believe that the objector has good reason for exceptionally lodging an objection to the bill after the end of the objection period. My view is that the objection is not exceptional.

I concur with that opinion.

Agreed.

Agreed.

It is therefore agreed that the objection will not be heard. I thank members for their attendance.

Meeting closed at 12:12.
