Item 2 is to choose a deputy convener. Following the resignation from the Parliament of the deputy convener, Nick Johnston, on 10 August, we must now select a new deputy convener. As members know, standing orders state that a deputy convener shall chair meetings of a committee in the absence of the convener and shall also carry out the functions of the convener at other times if the convener is unable to act. Parliament decided on 16 December 1999 that the deputy convener of the Audit Committee should be from the Conservative party. David Davidson is the only eligible member.
Mr Davidson was chosen as deputy convener.
Congratulations, Mr Davidson.
