Interests

The Convener (Karen Whitefield):

Good morning. I open the 20th meeting in 2008 of the Education, Lifelong Learning and Culture Committee. I remind all members and visitors that mobile phones and BlackBerrys should be switched off.

The first item on our revised agenda is a declaration of interests. I am pleased to welcome Margaret Smith to the committee, and I invite her to declare any relevant interests.

Margaret Smith (Edinburgh West) (LD):

Thank you for your welcome, convener. I have two children in the school system at secondary level, one at primary school and two at university. I also have a partner who is a speech and language therapist working with children with special needs in special schools and in the community.

Thank you. I hope that you will enjoy your time on the committee.

I am sure that I will. Thank you.
