Phil Gallie (Oldest Member of the Committee):

Good afternoon. This is the first meeting of the Justice and Home Affairs Committee. I trust that committee members are all as excited as I am about this committee and I am sure that we will find that we all get to know one another very well.

I am chairing this part of the meeting. Believe it or not—I find it hard to believe—I am the oldest member of the committee. Who says agism does not have its advantages—positive discrimination puts me in the chair for the first few minutes.
