Subordinate Legislation

The Convener (Christine Grahame)

Good morning and welcome to the 14th meeting in 2010 of the Health and Sport Committee. I remind everyone to switch off their mobile phones and other electronic equipment. We have received no apologies.

The first item on the agenda is subordinate legislation. We have two negative instruments to consider. Members have a copy of each instrument in their papers, as well as a cover note that summarises their purpose and which highlights comments that the Subordinate Legislation Committee drew to our attention.

Natural Mineral Water, Spring Water and Bottled Drinking Water (Scotland) Amendment (No 2) Regulations 2010 (SSI 2010/127)

The Convener

The Subordinate Legislation Committee reported that the regulations breached the 21-day rule for subordinate legislation, although it was content with the Government’s explanation for that. Do members have any comments on the regulations?

Members: No.

The Convener

Are members content not to make any recommendation on the regulations?

Members indicated agreement.

National Health Service (Pharmaceutical Services) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2010 (SSI 2010/128)

The Convener

As agreed at a previous meeting, the committee will consider the next item on the agenda in private.

10:01 Meeting continued in private until 10:43.

The Convener

The Subordinate Legislation Committee raised a minor point of clarification with the Scottish Government on the effect of the regulations and was satisfied with the response that it received. Do members have any comments?

Members: No.

The Convener

Are members content not to make any recommendation on the regulations?
