Members will appreciate that the Parliament has decided that this committee will be convened by a member of the Conservative party. I invite anyone from that party with aspirations to chair this committee to step forward. We do not have to nominate and second, because the convener's party has already been decided—we need only nominate.
As there are only two members of the Conservative party on the committee, I take pleasure in standing aside for my colleague, Alex Johnstone, who will make a good convener.
Is everyone agreed?
Alex Johnstone was elected convener by acclamation.
Thank you. I will now hand over to Mr Johnstone. We will need to change places, Mr Johnstone. You will find that this is a very comfortable chair.
I thank John Munro for chairing the first part of the meeting. I agree that this is a comfortable chair—I notice that it is fitted with wheels, which my previous chair did not have.
