I convene the 43rd meeting in 2002 of the Justice 1 Committee and remind members and everyone else who is present to turn off mobile phones and pagers. I have received an apology from Wendy Alexander, who hopes to attend the meeting later—she is involved with an urgent constituency matter.

I welcome Brian Adam and Kenneth Macintosh, who will speak to amendments to the Title Conditions (Scotland) Bill.
