Subordinate Legislation

Scottish Public Services Ombudsman Act 2002 (Consequential Modification of Instruments) Order 2003 (SSI 2003/242)

The Convener:

The second item on the agenda is consideration of a piece of subordinate legislation. The order is a negative instrument amending a number of other statutory instruments to allow for the extension of powers of investigation of the Scottish public services ombudsman. It covers several bodies that should fall within the ombudsman's remit.

We have received no motion to annul the order. The Subordinate Legislation Committee considered the order earlier today and I understand that it found no significant problems that should cause us alarm. However, before I ask members to approve the order, I seek their comments on it.

The order covers a straightforward technical matter.

On that basis, the recommendation is that the committee has no recommendation to make on the order. Do members agree to that recommendation?

Members indicated agreement.

The Convener:

At our meeting last week, members agreed to take in private a briefing on the committee's future work programme by Scottish Parliament information centre researchers. As a result, I bring the public part of the meeting to a close. I thank members of the public for their attendance.

Meeting continued in private until 15:17.
