Public Audit Committee Report: Response

“Free personal and nursing care”

The Convener:

We move to item 4. Committee members have received a response from the Government to our "Free personal and nursing care" report. It is a full response from the accountable officer, Dr Kevin Woods, who has attempted to cover a number of the areas that concerned committee members.

Twelve of our recommendations have been accepted and one has been partially accepted. That sums it up.

The Convener:

Yes, the outcome has been positive. I am sure that committee members want me to put on record our appreciation of the response from Dr Woods. I am not sure that there is much more that we can do. Do members have any thoughts? We might wish to consider which issues should be included in the Government's next progress report, and what further action should be taken.

Are we talking about the recommendations in annex A of the paper from the clerk?

Yes.

The clerk has gently suggested some things that members "may wish" to do. I agree with the clerk's recommendations and I think that we should follow them.

Yes—to get an update on the work that is being done.

Okay. Are we agreed that we should ask for an update?

Members indicated agreement.

As I say, the Government's response has been positive, which is to be welcomed.

Meeting continued in private until 12:06.
