Welcome to the 17th meeting in 2002 of the Standards Committee. I have received apologies from Tricia Marwick, but I welcome Mike Russell in her place.

Item 1 is consideration of how to proceed with items 3 and 4. Item 3 is an update on the appointment of the standards commissioner. As that relates to a continuing recruitment process, I propose that we take it in private. Do members agree to that?

Item 4 is our initial consideration of a report from the standards adviser concerning a complaint against a member. The committee will recall that the procedure is for us to undertake the initial consideration at stage 3 of our investigative process in private. Do members agree that we should take that item in private?
