Scottish Parliament Public Petitions Committee Tuesday 25 March 2003 (Morning)

[The Convener opened the meeting at 10:08]

The Convener (Mr John McAllion):

I welcome everyone to the seventh meeting this year of the Public Petitions Committee. Indeed, this is our final meeting in the first-ever elected Scottish Parliament.

I extend a warm welcome to a delegation from the petitions committee of the German Bundestag, which is led by Herr Hagemann. You are very welcome, and I hope that you enjoy your visit to Scotland. We enjoyed a good visit to Germany back in 2001, so this is, in a sense, a return visit for the Bundestag committee. I know that its members have already met to discuss electronic petitioning. As I said, they are very welcome, and I hope that they have a successful stay. We look forward to meeting them later today. [Applause.]

We have received apologies from Rhoda Grant, but all other committee members are present.
