I welcome everyone to the 15th meeting in 2001 of the Public Petitions Committee. I give a particularly warm welcome to the delegation from the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature in South Africa. The delegation is headed by the chairperson of the Select Committee on Petitions and Private Members Legislative Proposals, Mr Fish Mahlalela. We hope to meet our guests later for discussions about how the Scottish Parliament's Public Petitions Committee operates and how their committee operates.
