The Convener (Bristow Muldoon):

We will start as we are quorate. I welcome the new committee member. As members know, Iain Smith had been a member of the committee since the elections and I think that he was a member of the Local Government Committee for the whole first session. I give him our best wishes again and thank him for all his hard work and contributions to the committee's work.

I welcome to the committee the new Liberal Democrat representative, Margaret Smith. She has been an active member of and contributor to a range of committees and I am sure that she will be equally active on this committee. As required by standing orders, I ask her to declare any relevant interests to the committee's work.

I thank the convener for those kind words—that was money well spent. I am pleased to join members of the committee. As far as I am aware, I have no interests to declare at this time.

I thank Margaret Smith and look forward to working with her.
