Interests

Good morning and welcome to the 15th meeting in 2009 of the Equal Opportunities Committee. I remind all those who are present, including members, that mobile phones and BlackBerrys should be switched off completely as they interfere with the sound system even if they are switched to silent.

We have received apologies from Hugh O'Donnell, Willie Coffey and Elaine Smith. I am pleased to welcome Margaret Smith MSP as a substitute member. As this is her first attendance at the Equal Opportunities Committee, I invite her to declare any relevant interests.

I do not think that it is necessarily a declarable interest, but I am the honorary vice-president of the South Queensferry church's care in the community project—an organisation that provides services for elderly residents and their carers.
