Good morning, everyone, and welcome to the fifth meeting in 2026 of the Equalities, Human Rights and Civil Justice Committee. We have received apologies for today’s meeting from Collette Stevenson.
I welcome Ben Macpherson, who joins us as a substitute member. As this is the first time that he has participated in a meeting of the committee, I invite him to declare any interests that are relevant to the committee’s remit.
Thank you, convener. I am glad to be a substitute member and to be with you today. I draw colleagues’ attention to my voluntary entry in the register of members’ interests, which shows that I am on the Law Society of Scotland roll of Scottish solicitors.
