Decision on Taking Business in Private

The Convener (Iain Smith):

Good morning, colleagues, and welcome to the 22nd meeting in 2008 of the Economy, Energy and Tourism Committee. I remind members, witnesses and members of the public to please switch off all mobile phones and BlackBerrys rather than just switch them to silent, because they can interfere with the sound system. It is rather warm in here, so if anyone feels the need to take their jacket off, please feel free; I will do so if it does not cool down a bit.

Agenda item 1 is consideration of whether to take item 3 in private. It is parliamentary practice that the committee's report on the budget to the Finance Committee is published when the Finance Committee publishes its report. It would not make sense for us to deliberate on our report in public, because it should remain private until the Finance Committee has considered it. I hope that members will agree to take item 3 in private.

Members indicated agreement.
