Objectives
The Committee will prioritise:
- constructive scrutiny of the Scottish Government’s public service reform programme by pressing for clear evidence and detail on its reform proposals
- work that promotes transparency and encourages public engagement with public service reform, including providing a platform for community perspectives and stakeholder expertise to influence the direction and delivery of reforms
- maintaining a broad overview of the public service reform programme which monitors progress, identifies challenges and opportunities, and tracks its long-term delivery and impact.
Ways of working
The Committee will aim to work:
- constructively: by being forensic, fair and firm in its scrutiny
- collegiately and consensually: taking an evidence-based approach to decision-making, recognising that committees work best when they speak with one voice, and inspire public confidence in our recommendations which are focused on better outcomes
- innovatively: for example, in relation to how we work with other parliamentary committees and how we engage with one another in recognising the complex and overlapping nature of the public service landscape.
