Members of the Committee were invited to declare any relevant interests. Katie Hagmann declared an interest as Councillor on Dumfries and Galloway Council. She also declared an interest as having previously been COSLA's spokesperson for Resources and having been a recipient of the Access to Elected Office Fund prior to being elected to the Scottish Parliament. Holly Bruce declared an interest as Councillor on Glasgow City Council. Meghan Gallacher, Amanda Lindsay, Carol Mochan and Collette Stevenson had no interests to declare.
The Committee chose Meghan Gallacher as its Deputy Convener.
The Committee agreed to take item 4 in private.
Fulton MacGregor declared he is registered with the Scottish Social Services Council.
The Committee considered its approach to developing its work programme, and agreed to hold roundtable evidence sessions at its first meetings after summer recess, the stakeholders it would wish to hear from at the roundtable evidence sessions, to take evidence from the Minister for Equalities and International Development and the Minister for Victims and Community Safety at a subsequent meeting, to hold a business planning event at a venue outside the Parliament and to delegate to the convener and clerks responsibility for finalising details of the event, and to hold an external visit to the Court of Session in Edinburgh.
