Scottish Parliament scrutiny of the draft national planning framework 4

Letter from the Convener to Public Audit Finance and Public Administration Committee and Social Justice and Social Security Committee

I am writing to you regarding the forthcoming draft National Planning Framework 4 (NPF4). As you will be aware, the Scottish Government has committed to publishing this in the autumn and I am writing with details of the Local Government, Housing and Planning Committee’s proposed approach to scrutiny of this document.

I have written to the Conveners of subject committees whose remits include areas substantially covered by the Scottish Government Position Statement published last November to invite them to participate in collaborative scrutiny of the document.

In addition, I would like to make your Committee aware of the scrutiny work we are undertaking due to the nature of your Committee’s remit and to request that if in the course of your work programme over the coming year, evidence relating to the the NPF4 and related issues is presented, you share this with my Committee.

We would also welcome any thoughts your Committee may have on the draft NPF4 when it is laid in Parliament.

Yours sincerely

Ariane Burgess
