The Economy and Fair Work Committee undertook pre-budget scrutiny ahead of the publication of the Scottish Government’s Budget for 2023-24.
In line with the recommendations of the Budget Process Review Group (BPRG) report, Scottish Parliament committees undertook pre-budget scrutiny, in advance of the publication of the Scottish budget.
The purpose of pre-budget scrutiny was for Committees to provide comment to the Scottish Government, in the form of a letter or report, at least six weeks prior to the Scottish budget with the aim of influencing the budget when priorities are set.
The Committee agreed at its meeting on 29 June 2022 to focus its pre-budget scrutiny on women’s contribution to the economy, and the impact of the cost crisis on businesses.
Following the evidence sessions, the Committee considered the evidence heard and wrote to the Cabinet Secretary with its recommendations.
The Committee considered its approach to Pre-Budget Scrutiny.
The Committee took evidence fromā Close the Gap and Women’s Enterprise Scotland.
The Committee took evidence from the Scottish Tourism Alliance, Unite Hospitality, and UKHospitality.
The Committee heard from representatives from sectors with high energy usage. Following this session, the Committee considered the evidence heard across all three sessions and agreed a letter with its recommendations.
