PE1864/D - Increase the ability of communities to influence planning decisions for onshore windfarms

I live near the proposed Energy Isles (Statkraft) wind farm in North Yell, Shetland. Objections to the proposal include SEPA, NatureScot, RSPB. The area is active peat bog and habitat for protected species including rare birds and otters. There is already an approved wind farm for South Yell plus Viking Energy on mainland Shetland.

I moved to Shetland to study. There is no compensation for construction noise or operational issues such as shadow flicker. The area has extreme fuel poverty which the project will not alleviate.

I support renewables (tidal, wave, solar) and belong to the Scottish Greens, but the current planning process is not working.
