Holyrood Economy Committee to meet in Aberdeen to launch new inquiry
19 October 2023
On November 6, Aberdeen Town House will play host to a formal meeting of the Committee as part of a visit to the area. The meeting will be the first evidence session of the Committee’s inquiry, which looks at how to support, incentivise and de-risk the transition to net zero in a way that benefits both companies and individuals in the North East and Moray.
The Committee will also visit the city’s newly opened South Harbour, and hear the views of local people and community groups from across the North East and Moray at an engagement event at Aberdeen Arts Centre.
Committee Convener Claire Baker MSP said: “We’re looking forward to coming to Aberdeen next month. It’s really important that the Parliament gets out of Edinburgh where possible, and brings our work to where people are.
“This inquiry is all about the vitally important Just Transition for the North East and Moray – so it’s only right that we are beginning our evidence sessions in the area.
“This is a chance for the Committee to hear directly from those in the area about the coming transition, and what support is needed to make it a success.”
The Committee’s inquiry into a Just Transition for the North East and Moray follows a similar report into the Grangemouth area, which was published earlier this year and will feed into the Scottish Government’s plan for the area.
