The scrutiny sessions, which are open to the public, will be the first time Mr Swinney has appeared before the Scottish Parliament’s Conveners Group since his re-election in May.
The Conveners Group allows conveners to share ideas and approaches and collectively champion scrutiny of the Scottish Government. Topics up for discussion with the First Minister could include his Programme for Government, priorities for the upcoming Budget and plans for public sector reform.
Conveners have been split into the below groups for each session:
Wednesday 30 September
- Stuart McMillan – Climate Action
- David Linden – Criminal Justice
- Calum Kerr – Delegated Powers and Law Reform
- Karen Adam – Education and Gaelic
- Katie Hagmann – Equalities, Human Rights and Civil Justice
- Paul Sweeney – Public Petitions
- Mark Ruskell – Rural Affairs
- Jenni Minto – Standards, Procedures and Public Appointments
Wednesday 7 October
- Duncan Massey – Economy, Tourism and Energy

Both sessions will start at 12:30pm and are expected to last 60 minutes.
Presiding Officer and Chair of the Conveners Group, Kenneth Gibson MSP said:
“Committees are absolutely central to the Scottish Parliament’s work in examining and scrutinising the policies and actions of the Scottish Government.
“These evidence sessions offer an important public forum for conveners to put the First Minister under the spotlight and seek answers on the wide range of issues that really matter to people.
“In previous years I took part in these sessions as a Convener, so chairing it will be a new experience. I'm looking forward to it and want to make sure we get value from each session.”
