Article 7 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union refers to "respect for … private and family life",which seems to suggest that parents would be in control of their own homes and their own children. Given that the fresh talent initiative is aimed mainly at university students and that Scotland already has an abundance of graduates, some of whom find it difficult to get jobs that are commensurate with their qualifications, how can the initiative be aimed at those in eastern Europe who are skilled in the trades that are needed in Scotland?
