Official Report Meeting date: 5 September 2006

Justice 2 Committee, 05 Sep 2006

I hope that members also managed to get a bit of a rest. Item 1 is to ask members of the committee if they agree that we should deal with item 6, our summation of evidence on the Christmas Day and New Year's Day Trading (Scotland) Bill, in private, as has been the custom.

This is our last meeting with Ruth Cooper for a while and I am sure that we all wish her well in the next weeks and perhaps months in getting to grips with what I am sure will be the happy new member of her family.I have received apologies from Adam Ingram, Gordon Jackson, Stewart Maxwell and Jamie Stone.

Plenary, 05 Sep 2002

It is impossible to deal with such requests if the notes are simply passed up to the desk, especially as one of this afternoon's notes was unsigned, which makes it very difficult.I do not normally reveal my hand in advance but, in view of the statements yesterday and today, I do not propose to call any extra supplementaries on questions 3 and 4. In that way, I hope that we will get to questions 5 and 6 and perhaps allow other members in on questions 1 and 2.

Official Report Meeting date: 20 November 2001

Public Petitions Committee, 20 Nov 2001

We wish her every success in her new post and hope that she gets on in it. Unfortunately, there may be a delay in replacing Ruth, and we may have even fewer staff for several months, which is not so good.
Official Report Meeting date: 14 March 2001

Justice 2 Committee, 14 Mar 2001

We set the earlier start time because, for the first time, we have a heavy agenda, and so that the Deputy Minister for Justice can get away in time. First, do we agree to consider items 3, 4 and 5—Crown Office and procurator fiscal service issues, a European briefing and lines of questioning for the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority—in private?
Official Report Meeting date: 16 January 2001

Subordinate Legislation Committee, 16 Jan 2001

I might not necessarily have any qualms about that, but we might want to get some clarification of the efficacy of the procedure, given the potential legal pitfalls.
